April 30, 2013

Greetings Friends,

Winter has come and gone in the Klamath Basin and Spring is here.  Spring is the beginning of a busy time for Klamath County Rotarians.  We have several projects that we have to organize for.  The Rotary First Harvest Production Garden and Community Garden are being planted, weeded, and tended to.  Klamath Cares, Klamath Reads (KCKR) is on May 29th and is our biggest literacy project of the year.  Bags are being stuffed with books, pencils, bookmarks, and other goodies in preperation for every Klamath Basin 1st grader to receive them.  We will also start preperations for the Rotary/4H Livestock Auction on August 11th.  Anyone who has been to one of these Livestock Auctions knows how big of a job it is.  Our Scholarship Committee is also in the process of choosing which Klamath Basin students are worthy of a handful of scholarships we hand out every year.

On a personal note, my year is winding down and I will pass the torch to Guy Jakubowski at the beginning of July.  I cannot emphasize enough how much this experience has meant to me.  There are too many people for me to thank by name in this space but to everyone who helped make this year a success, thank you.  A special thank you to my wife, Shannon and my children Katie, and Andy for taking a backseat to Rotary this year.  I feel like I put my "all" into this club this year and couldn't be more proud to be a Klamath County Rotarian.  Although stressful and busy at times, this year has been one of my most cherished.  Klamath County Rotary truly is "Great people doing wonderful things in our community!"

Sincerely,

AJ Halda- KCRC President 2012-13
