Margie Howard Rotary Music/Education Scholarship criteria
This scholarship fund will award as much as $4,000 annually for one to eight students with a minimum award of $500. Students who are graduating from any Klamath County High School, public or private, or are currently attending at a four-year post-secondary educational institution may apply. The applicant must have declared a major in one of the following prioritized categories: (1) Music – Education or Performing, (2) Performing Arts - Theater Arts, Dance, Drama or (3) Education – Primary or Secondary. The payment will be made directly to the college or university’s financial aid office upon registration and GPA confirmation.
Academics:
1. The scholarships are available to any Klamath County High School student, public or private who meet all criteria. Applicants may also be undergraduate college students with a declared major in any one of the categories listed below who have demonstrated a potential for success.
2. The applicant must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 while maintaining full-time status.
3. First application can be made during the spring of their senior year in High School and each spring thereafter.
Scholarship Application:
The application material shall be assembled and submitted by the Applicant, and shall include the following:
- One of the following:
- a. Current High School Transcript with a 3.0 or better GPA
- b. Current College Transcript showing a 3.0 or better College GPA while maintaining full time student status.
The applicant must also have a :
- Declared major, with letter of acceptance in one of the following prioritized categories:
- Music Education or Permorming Arts
- Performing Arts – Theater, Dance, Drama, etc.
- Education - Primary or Secondary
- Completion of the application form with attachments.
- Official transcript.
- Autobiography of 250 to 400 words, which includes background, interest, and goals for the future.
- Three letters of recommendation.
4. Photo ID
5. Personal or telephone interview, if out of town.
6. Complete the Scholarship Application with attachements and submit by April 1st.
The scholarship is renewable contingent upon:
- Reapplication
- Continuing to meet the scholarship criteria through their BA or for 5 years
The trustees wish to see the personal effort and care of the applicant demonstrated in the presentation of their application material.
